Hi all. I have a multisite 4 nodes failover cluster with Fileshare witness. each site has two nodes, site Prod and site DR.
in windows server 2016 , further set preferred site to site Prod.
I would like to know the outcome if crosssite link is down:
1. Services Active node on Prod site and FSW owned in prod site
2. Services Active node on Prod site and FSW owned in DR site
3. Services Active node on DR site and FSW owned in Prod site
4. Services Active node on DR site and FSW owned in DR site
Hello everyone,
I need to join a 3 nodes HyperV 2012 R2 cluster to a new domain. I have searched doc in the MS knowledge base but I didn't find anything. I would like to understand if there's a way to join the cluster to a new (trusted) AD domain without destroying and recreating the cluster. Apparently, there's no official MS article on that

Hello, all
I deployed environment that two oracle instances are being operated upon on Microsoft Cluster HA.
Thing weired is when I shutdown active node or bring service onto another node manually then both work definetely.
However; in case of one service for oracle instance is stopped in the services.msc, it doesn't work.
It is never transsited its service to another node.
When I first configured this environment, I wanted to ensure that HA was possible even if either of the Oracle instances failed.
When I look at the cluster event, I see event id 1196 and event id 1069.
I looked at dns, referring to other technical documents, but did not get a clear answer. I would like to get a helpful opinion.
Thanx.
Suppose I have a multisite 4 nodes cluster, and one fsw
each site has two nodes.
how many nodes failure before the cluster is down.
for example 2 prod site node down + 1 dr site node down.
will the cluster down ?

Hi
We are looking for a command to get all IP address for a Windows 2012 R2 failover cluster (HV cluster with CSV, Mgmt & LM NICs)
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
I created a cluster and added the file server role as the clustered role. All the cluster related objects landed in the "Computers" OU (default location for new AD computer objects). I didn't want them to stay here so created a new OU in which I placed all my cluster objects.
I then visited the cluster to create my first Client Access Point, however it fails with error 800703eb. I know this is related to the permissions on the OU, however, I am unsure as to what they should be. (Finding it difficult to locate information on this.)
Can anyone help?
Many thanks.

Guys,
have unique requirement of making few hyper-v hosts as a cold standaby host which can be bring back to life if needed such as another node has died.
How practical is to remove a node from cluster, shut it down, when needed start the hosts, readd to domain and add back to cluster?
Or just shut it down and start every 30 days to keep it intact in the domain?
Have 5 nodes cluster right now and have enough resource to run all the workload even if one of the node is down (apart from the one I want to keep as cold standby)
I have a lab environment with the following setup:
Host: WS 2016 with hyper V installed.
2 VM's (WS2016) clustered running Fileshare with no witness (It is a lab environment just for testing purposes).
ISCSI disk has been created on a third VM which is being used as Fileshare.
CASE:1
Cluster running with both the nodes up. Current owner of the Role: say SERVER1.
I shutdown the server and the new owner of the role is SERVER2. CLUSTER IS STILL UP AND RUNNING.
CASE:2
With the current role owner being SERVER2 and SERVER1 being currently shut down. If I shutdown SERVER2 now, the cluster is going to stop (very obvious).
Upon starting SERVER1 again, the cluster is not up. SERVER1 shows the ISCSI disk to be offline. Tried manually starting the cluster but still it does not start (I could not check the votes as I could not access the cluster node option in Failover cluster manager, as the cluster is Stopped). Cluster events does not show any data.
CASE:3
Upon starting SERVER2, the cluster starts automatically and the Owner Node is SERVER2.
Questions:
1) Why the cluster does not start in case:2 ? Is it because of the voting ? How do I troubleshoot ?
2) Is this a normal behaviour ? How do I override it ?
3) What are your advise for the best practices when working with WSFC ?
We have a new Hyper-V failover cluster with severals VMs. We have a Server 2012 R2 file server failover cluster that we want to transition over to Hyper-V. Our new SAN storage is connected via 10Gb iSCSI, and is where all of the VMs and file server storage will reside. My question is which way is better/makes more sense?
1. Set up two failover cluster nodes as VMs in Hyper-V. Use physical disk connection or cluster shared storage? Is this adding unnecessary complication with the additional machines and layers?
2. Add the file server as another clustered resource on the Hyper-V cluster. Use cluster disk or cluster shared storage? Is this a security risk, having this clustered on the same failover cluster as all of the Hyper-V machines?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts/best practices for this.
Dears,
We have a Windows Server 2012 Cluster built of two nodes (node 01, node 02).
The cluster is being used for SAP with Sybase Database engine.
We are experiencing an issue that happens from time to time.
Whenever Node 01 hangs, all the system hangs, and Node 02 never restore the service and be active.
In normal situations if Node 01 is totally down, Node 02 takes responsibility, but if it hangs it keeps all the storage partitions reserved for it and never release them until I force restart it.
What do I do?
Regards,
Khalid.
I attempted to create a self-signed certificate, however it would not work. Please help!
what's the default preferred owner order (without touching any thing) of a SQL database role in a windows cluster 2016 ?
suppose I have 4 nodes
My cluster has a network name with 2 ipaddress.
by default RegisterAllProvidersIP is 1 when cluster is setup.
But I only see 1 ip address in my dns records?
I am not sure it's security problem or not?
or network problem.
the 2nd IP address has to be access to DNS ?
We having 3 Node Windows 2012 R2 Cluster. With fileshare witness.(assume fileshare iis not located any of these 3 nodes)
What happens if 2 nodes down?
is it necessary to Force Quorum on 3rd Node?Hello Everyone,
Getting the below event on SQL Cluster nodes.
ERR 2051 : Microsoft-Windows-FailoverClustering
[RCM] [GIM] ResType Virtual Machine has no resources, not collecting local utilization info
ERR 2050 : Microsoft-Windows-FailoverClustering
[RCM] ResourceTypeChaseTheOwnerLoop::DoCall: ResType MSMQTriggers's DLL is not present on this node. Attempting to find a good node...
I referred to the below link here it says safe to ignore or install MSMQ.

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi Folks
I have 2 nodes cluster with 6 SQL roles 16 SAN Disks. My question is what is the recommendation for maximum failures limit ?
When you install Cluster it is 1 in 6h but I think I should change it..
Any suggestions ?
